This collection of peer-reviewed articles and book chapters examines the relationship between ideas and urban projects in self-produced environments across the Global South. The publications explore **urban links** as spatial and institutional mechanisms for addressing fragmentation and inequality between self-produced settlements and the broader city.

The work develops this argument through three interconnected themes: transdisciplinary approaches to managing urban projects in underserved communities; urban strategies for reconnecting fragmented territories, including the award-winning proposal for the Pan-American Highway and its surroundings; and the conception of architecture as a hinge capable of connecting urban conditions, social processes, and collective imaginaries.

This collection also holds a personal and emotional significance. These texts were written before I formally became a researcher, capturing an early moment when questions emerging from architectural and urban design practice began to evolve into a sustained research agenda.
