Developed as an actionable outcome of the doctoral thesis Spatial Opportunities for Self-Produced Environments, this research explores how digital technologies can support more equitable access to urban land and infrastructure services. Rather than understanding the smart city primarily through digitalization, the proposal examines the intersection between digital information, physical infrastructure, and spatial justice.
The research proposes a georeferenced platform through which underserved communities can identify, document, and evaluate their access to urban services and infrastructure. By connecting community-generated information with cadastral and spatial data, the platform makes inequalities in service provision visible while creating an instrument for locating infrastructure, informing land policies, and supporting more equitable urban decision-making.
