Developed from the 2018 enGENDERING Urban Design studio, this exhibition transformed the studio’s work in La Favorita, Mendoza, into a platform for examining how gender, participation, and urban design intersect in self-produced environments. It presented student proposals alongside documentation of the interactions among students, instructors, community members, and local government that informed their development.
Rather than presenting design proposals as isolated outcomes, the exhibition made the collaborative production of urban knowledge visible. By foregrounding both projects and participatory processes, it examined how gendered spatial inequalities emerge through everyday experiences of access, mobility, safety, and care, while positioning exhibition as a medium for extending the studio’s research beyond the classroom.
