The board shows an excerpt from a lecture about the use of the WOOD LIGHT FRAME SYSTEM as a construction system in architecture.

The lecture starts with a brief historical review of the system, specifically for the U.S. context. Then, it continues with the basic rules and terminology of the system. Specifically, this lecture seeks to provide a general but diaphanous understanding of the difference and similarities between wood platforms and balloon wood systems. Finally, the lesson explains the traditional U.S. house on wood to explain the construction phases of the system while showing typical steel details.

In addition to serving as teaching material on construction systems, this lecture has become an exercise in comparative research between different construction systems, specifically: wood, concrete, and steel.

Lastly, the conference compares popular wood-light frame housing in the United States and low-income housing in self-produced neighborhoods in Latin America. It explores how the industrialization of the construction system determines the forms of urbanization.
