Spatial inequalities do not occur from scratch. On the contrary, the history of the growth of cities and how the land is distributed transfers social inequalities to geographic territories.

This research seeks to demonstrate the relationship between the Hacienda as a socio-productive system in Latin America and land distribution in the contemporary city.

Working with the city of Caracas, this study generates two conclusions: First, the direct relationship between flooding and current water use, with the distribution of Haciendas in colonial times. Second, there is a direct relationship between the distribution of land in colonial times and the emergence of underprivileged neighborhoods in contemporary times.
