The Training Program in Spatial Democracy for Latin American leaders is a Scholarship of Teaching (Boyer 1990), which involves knowledge transformation and expansion. Since 2020, Petare Consulting and Petare Latam Foundation have worked in this funded research supported by the National Endowment for Democracy.
The Program delivers a series of training programs to put citizens at the center of urban governance. To date, we have trained 373 leaders from 83 institutions in six Latin American countries -Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru- with whom we have carried out 148 projects to promote spatial justice and democracy across the continent.
The program focuses on three research axis: Participation, Innovation, and Communication. In parallel, the Program explores topics such as Sustainability, Gender Equality, Leadership, and Public-Private Partnerships. The ultimate goal is to design innovative mechanisms to promote democratic values in Latin American cities toward compliance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
