Urban Design Studio. Faculty: Cristóbal Fuentes. Guest lecture connecting practice, teaching, and research through the framework of Spatial Opportunity. Beginning with self-produced neighborhoods in Latin America, the presentation examined incremental urbanization, the historical evolution of policies toward underserved territories, spatial accessibility, and methods for identifying opportunities within existing urban systems. Projects and research from Caracas, Petare, Somerville, and other contexts illustrated how spatial analysis and community-engaged design can shift attention from territorial deficits toward relationships, resources, and possibilities for transformation.
