Urban Theory and Practice Seminar. Faculty: Julia Smachylo. Invited class examining self-produced urban environments as systems shaped by alternative forms of organization, informal economies, incremental construction, and community participation. Drawing on research in Caracas and the development of Sports Park Mesuca, the lecture connected participatory design, institutional collaboration, and transdisciplinary practice with questions of public space, spatial inequality, community health, and global health. The session used the evolution of the Mesuca project to demonstrate how architectural and urban interventions can emerge from long-term engagement among residents, public institutions, designers, and researchers.
